The sun was shining brightly as we went to pick up Lucia’s residence permit.
I had been engaged by the employer to support Alec in his relocation to Koblenz. His wife Lucia joined him later here within the framework of family reunification. As Alec has a German passport, the process went smoothly.
Spouses of German nationals only need to prove proficiency in German at the A1 language level as well as provide the usual documents such as passport, health care insurance and marriage certificate. To enhance their integration in their new environment, Lucia is participating in an integration course which is sponsored by the Federal Office for Migration. It’s great to see the couple finding their feet in Koblenz.
