Rüdesheim is a beautiful little town on the Rhine, easy to reach by train, or you can travel to Bingen and take one of the ferries there. Boats sail there daily from Koblenz during the season. It’s a great day trip and has a lot to offer visitors. An overnight stay in Rüdesheim or Bingen is definitely worthwhile, as both towns have a lot to offer.

Rüdesheim is famous for its wine and the historic Niederwald monument. The former iconic distillery for Asbach Uralt now houses a very good restaurant – Bees. Right next door is RheinWeinWelt – where visitors can taste wine from many renowned winegrowers on the Rhine. You buy tokens – 10 or 20 of them – and can then taste a wide variety of wines. A token is then simply inserted into the chilled wine dispenser and the wine is then selected. This is a great concept and of course the wines tasted there can also be purchased on site.

In the town center is the famous Drosselgasse, where restaurants are lined up next to pubs and wine tastings. The narrow lane is very popular, always full of tourists and ends near the valley station of the cable car, which takes visitors to the Niederwalddenkmal in 2-seater gondolas. Of course, the route to the monument can also be covered on foot or by bike.

The view from the top is magnificent!
