The new Skilled Immigration Act will also change family reunification effective from 1. March 2024.
Up to now, only spouses and children were permitted to join their spouses and relocate to Germany. The new legislation enables parents and parents-in-law to also relocate. This only applies to skilled workers who receive their residence permit after 1 March 2024 (cut-off date regulation). It has not yet been decided how proof of subsistence will be provided and how healthcare insurance will be guaranteed.
