It is possible to enter Germany any time without a visa when travelling from the so-called positive states. Positive states are encompassed in the Schengen Agreement and are for example Canada, the USA, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Uruguay, Israel, Australia and several others. Jobseekers from these countries are permitted to enter Germany for 90 days without a visa but are not permitted to work without a residence permit. This means that once they have found a job, the entire process must be started at the local immigration office and registration at the place of residence is mandatory.
